Charles F. Saller, Ph.D., President & CEO

Prior to founding ABS, Dr. Saller led the biochemical team at what is now AstraZeneca that worked on the discovery of Seroquel®, one of the most successful drugs of all time both in respect to therapeutic efficacy for psychiatric disorders and market value. Dr. Saller is a serial entrepreneur, having founded Saller Rental Properties in the 1980s, which provided the capital for founding ABS in January 1990. He continues to lead ABS operations and direct its strategy. Dr. Saller has also served as the Principal Investigator or has administered more than $5 million in government grants and contracts as a founder of one other bioscience company and as advisor to others.

Linda Carlini, Vice President of Laboratory Operations

Linda supervises all Laboratory Operations at ABS. She has worked at ABS for more than 18 years and has overall responsibility for all ABS Laboratories, Biospecimen Operations, and ABS’ Biorepository. She is also accustomed and highly skilled at working with cross-functional teams and changing client specifications and priorities, having worked closely on many large multi-disciplinary projects. All Laboratory, Biorepository, and Biospecimen Operations personnel report to Linda. She is an ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt, and trained in Lean, HIPAA regulations, and GLP/GMP.

Cheri Miller, Vice President of Business Development & Operations

Cheri is the Vice President of Business Development & Operations at ABS. She has more than 23 years’ experience managing all aspects of Business Operations at ABS. This includes Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Facilities Infrastructure, and Business Development. Cheri is qualified in ISO 9001:2015 Management and Internal Auditing. She is also a Six Sigma Green Belt, and is trained in Lean, IATA/ICAO regulations, HIPAA regulations, and GLP/GMP.

Chris Weaver, Director of Business Operations

Christina is the Director of Business Operations at ABS. She joined ABS as an Office Assistant in 1999 while working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Goldey-Beacom College. She has had experience with many aspects of Business Operations at ABS over the years, and her current responsibilities include managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Human Resources. Christina is a certified ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor. She is also a Six Sigma Green Belt, and is trained in Lean, IATA/ICAO regulations, and HIPAA regulations.

Heidi Williams, M.S., Director of Client Services

Before joining ABS, Heidi obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University and her Master’s degree from the College of Charleston. After graduation, she joined ABS’ sales team in 2009 as a Project Manager. She continues to provide excellent customer service as Director of Client Services.

Heidi Shoulders, Senior Business Development Manager

Heidi consults with current and prospective clients in the Mid-Atlantic to identify and provide customized solutions that allow clients to get ahead of deadlines and spend more time focusing on their core competencies. Her love of science initially led to a career teaching middle school science before returning to graduate school to pursue a Master of Science in Biotechnology. During her graduate experience, she realized her expertise was best utilized outside of laboratory research. She believes in her clients’ research, and her goal is to provide them a better pathway to success.

Dania Hoq, Senior Business Development Manager

Dania joined ABS in 2012 as a Scientific Liaison before growing to take on more responsibility as a Project Manager the same year. She has a degree in Biology from the University of Delaware and extensive sales experience. Her passion for science, ability to build strong relationships, and commitment to helping people find solutions for their needs makes her role at ABS a natural fit.

Sarah Basehore, Ph.D., Business Development Manager

Sarah joined ABS as a Business Development Associate in 2019. She provides clients from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with custom, quality-guaranteed solutions that help streamline their discovery process and accelerate their pipelines. Her passion for science led her to achieve her Doctorate of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University prior to joining ABS. Her research expertise, problem-solving mindset, and ability to build strong relationships provides the foundation required to develop successful collaborations with clients in the New England territory. 

LeAnne Gandolfo, Business Development Manager

LeAnne joined ABS in 2020 and brings 25 years of biotech industry experience to her clients at ABS. She quickly found her passion for supporting biomedical team’s research efforts by providing tools to remove obstacles that impede success. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and a minor in Biology from The University of Delaware. Her purpose is to continually provide exceptional service and collaborate on creative solutions that allow her Mid-Atlantic clients to focus on important research and discovery.

Brianna Shultz, Sales Enablement Manager

Brianna joined ABS in 2020 and quickly grew into her current role as a Business Development Manager. She collaborates with teams on the West-Coast by exploring and providing custom solutions that allow them to overcome bandwidth challenges, streamline workflows, and accelerate discovery. She has achieved degrees in Neuroscience (B.S.) and Hospitality Business Management (M.S.) from the University of Delaware, driven by a passion for life-science, problem solving, and connecting with others. These qualities, along with significant research experience, empower her to develop creative solutions with her clients that enhance their research outcomes.

Job Purpose

The Business Operations Assistant will manage the front desk and work on specific projects as designated and directed. They are an assistant to the Business Operations Department and Upper Management. The Business Operations Assistant should enjoy interacting with and helping people in a friendly manner. Good organizational skills are essential because this position requires handling multiple projects at the same time. All relevant information must be accurately recorded in company databases.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors in a professional and friendly manner; sign them in on the Visitors Log
  • Answer door; assign packages that were delivered to the building to the proper personnel
  • Answer phone calls and direct to appropriate extension
  • Take out mail and check mailbox daily. Sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Scan records, name them properly, and save them to the appropriate location.
  • Upload contracts to the document management system
  • Assist with company team-building events (i.e. group lunches, team building, holiday party, summer event, etc.)
  • Manage office supply requests, orders and inventory
  • Data Entry (Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, and Bills)
  • Schedule meetings for members of Upper Management using Microsoft Teams
  • Executive Assistant to Upper Management for various tasks such as reminders of open items and timelines

Lab Assistant/Intern Part-time

Summary:  The Part-time Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will work on specific Lab projects as designated and directed, and they are an assistant to the lab staff. Good organizational skills are essential because this position requires handling multiple projects at the same.  All relevant information must be accurately recorded when working with the database, FreezerPro. 


Required Duties:  (This list is not comprehensive, but it should be used to provide general guidance.  Other duties may be required.) 

  • The Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will help the lab with the equipment maintenance duties. 
  • Maintenance of: Incubators, water baths, refrigerators, and others as requested by other employees. 
  • The Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will help with organizing the storage areas, and helping put away supplies as they are delivered.  
  • The Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will help with inventories, chemical, antibody, cell vials, and tissues.
  • The Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will help with large cell culture projects, as a runner. 
  • Unpacking flasks and helping stock up each work station. 
  • The Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will work with NetSuite to help keep maintenance on equipment that is within the database, as well helping to add on other equipment types into the system  
  • The Laboratory Assistant/ Intern will follow all SOPs while learning about ABS production processes.

Requirements

Education: A high school diploma is required. Pursuing or having a BA/BS degree in the biological field is highly recommended. 


Language Skills: The lab Intern must be fluent in English and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  All written communications should be grammatically correct without spelling errors.

We are looking for exceptional individuals who have strong sales skills and a good background in biological sciences for business development positions in the US and Europe. Extensive travel and frequent interactions with clients are required. Staff may work remotely or from our Delaware headquarters.
