Mycoplasma contamination is a major problem affecting cell growth and assay results. ABS has developed an advanced methodology to provide you with a precise, fast, and cost-effective Mycoplasma testing service.
ABS Mycoplasma Testing
ABS uses a highly sensitive and specific PCR-based method to test for multiple strains of Mycoplasma, amplifying even low levels of contaminants. Then, instead of using a gel to separate PCR fragments and trying to visualize bands that may indicate Mycoplasma contamination, we utilize an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer for the analysis of amplified PCR fragments from any mycoplasma presents.
The use of PCR enables high sensitivity and precision. Rather than relying upon the visual detection of “weak” bands on a gel and a judgment call, the Bioanalyzer enables the quantitative measurement of PCR fragments ensuring unambiguous results. We can accept either cell culture samples or media samples for testing.
- High sensitivity
- Unambiguous objective results
- Fast turnaround, with electronic transmission of your data
Mycoplasma testing is included with all cell culture production orders.
